The mission of Open Door Community House, Inc. is to empower impoverished people in our community to realize their full potential as children of God. Some of our programs include:
Mathews Promise Academy after school program with emphasis on reading. STEAM projects and instrumental music instruction are also provided. These at risk students are safe & fed in a positive learning place where parents in low paying jobs do not have to worry. There is also a Summer Academy.
Circles of Columbus ministry works with families to set their own goals to get out of poverty with resources and matching of community volunteers. Open Door Institute offers GED prep and a culinary arts program with graduates earning $6/hour more. We have a unique showering program for the homeless to be more presentable & healthy, a transition home for homeless women often from domestic abuse and a weekly ministry for low income Senior Adults most with little or no family.
