Impact Information

This charity has reported a measure of cost-effectiveness: how much impact (per dollar) your donation will have on the charity's social outcome. The cost-effectiveness calculation was performed using protocols developed by ImpactMatters, an independent auditor of philanthropic impact.

For nonprofits that run multiple programs, we highlight the impact of one program below.  Learn More about Impact Information.
Program Name: Empowerment and Livelihoods for Adolescents
Program Activities
In girls-only safe spaces, or Empowerment and Livelihoods for Adolescents (ELA) Clubs, girls receive trainings in life skills, confidence building, financial literacy, and specific livelihoods, and microloans for older girls to start businesses.
Impact Statement
$40 increases the future earnings of an adolescent girl by $200.
Methodology
BRAC USA and third-party evaluators conducted a randomized controlled trial of the ELA program to estimate impact.
Data Source
BRAC USA's survey data collected directly from program participants in 100 treatment communities and non-participants in 50 control communities.
Attribution Method
BRAC USA estimated counterfactual success by tracking the outcomes of a control group whose members were randomly assigned not to receive the intervention.
