Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) empowers veterans and families of fallen heroes to develop character in future generations. In 2007, 1stLt Travis Manion (USMC) was killed in Iraq while saving his wounded teammates. Today, Travis' legacy lives on in the words he spoke before leaving for his final deployment, "If Not Me, Then Who..." Guided by this mantra, veterans continue their service, develop strong relationships with their communities, and thrive in their post-military lives. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation's heroes live on in the next generation.

Impact Information

data icon Classy created Progress to help nonprofits and social enterprises articulate their performance by combining qualitative insights on program strategies and beneficiaries, with quantitative metrics on social problems, short term outputs and long term intended outcomes.
Program Name: 9/11 Heroes Run
Problem

There are not many opportunities for individuals, families, and friends, let alone communities, to come together to celebrate and honor our nation's heroes - military, veteran, & first responders. As time passes and wars come to a close, it becomes more important than ever to keep our youth educated and aware of the sacrifices Americans made and continue to make every day for our safety and freedoms – whether on Sept. 11th, in the wars since, or on a daily basis in our own communities.

Strategy

1. Opportunity to honor: We create an opportunity for the public to come together and honor our heroes in whichever fashion they deem most suitable for themselves – whether it is running, walking, volunteering, fundraising/donating, or cheering, this race series brings communities together to honor and show appreciation. 2. Financial support: Funds raised from each race are used to directly support veterans, first responders, military, and their families via a national platform.

IF:THEN

IF we create an opportunity to bring communities together or offer anyone anywhere the chance to be a part of something world wide...

THEN we know that as time passes and wars come to a close, our youth are educated and aware of the sacrifices Americans have made and continue to make every day for our safety and freedoms – whether on Sept. 11th, in the wars since, or on a daily basis in our own communities.
