Since the 1870s, The Bowery Mission has served generations of men, women and children experiencing homelessness, hunger and poverty. Every year we build on this legacy, driven by our desire to deliver the most effective care. Men and women who express interest in our programs work with our clinical staff to create an Individual Action Plan (IAP) with specific, measurable goals for wellness, recovery, employment, housing and more. In order to more effectively combat the epidemic of homelessness, New York City Rescue Mission and Goodwill Rescue Mission (Newark) joined forces with The Bowery Mission. Leveraging more than 400 years of combined service, three historic organizations have become one. Last year, we provided 429,500 meals, 104,000 nights of shelter, 27,600 articles of clothing, 67,500 emergency showers and 1,500 onsite medical and optometry exams. Additionally, we served 321 adults in our residential programs and 225 children and youth in year-round enrichment programs.
