Prior to 9/1/2016, Charity Navigator issued Advisories under the name CN Watchlist and Donor Advisory. For more information on the CN Advisory system click here. This charity was issued a DA.

This donor advisory was published on Wednesday, November 21, 2012

In accordance with our policy for removing Donor Advisories, Charity Navigator removed the Donor Advisory for the Missouri History Museum in  December 2013 because the Donor Advisory has been in place for a year and the charity has publically shared its corrective action steps on its website.

Charity Navigator had published a Donor Advisory for this charity because we became aware of the following information in connection with this charity:

  • In October and November 2012, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported on findings from an audit that criticizes the Missouri History Museum’s president’s compensation and its board for lax oversight. The audit also raised concerns over a land deal from 2006 that may have involved a conflict of interest. For more information, please see the various articles published by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch including the ones here, here, here and here.
