Women for Women International (WWI) provides women survivors of war, civil strife and other conflicts with the tools and resources to move from crisis and poverty to stability and self-sufficiency, thereby promoting viable civil societies. Women begin in our Sponsorship Program where direct financial aid from a sponsor helps them deal with the immediate effects of war and conflict such as lack of food, water, medicine and other necessities. The next leg of the journey is the Renewing Women's Life Skills (ReneWLS) Program that provides them with rights awareness, leadership education and vocational and technical skills training. Women build upon existing skills and learn new ones in order to regain their strength, stability and stature on the path to becoming active citizens.

Official Charity Response

Women for Women International (WfWI) is an organization that is committed to responsibly investing donor dollars. While operating in conflict affected countries – often in rural settings – can add additional overhead and administrative expenses, it is important to WfWI to be able to serve the most marginalized women where they are at. In order to help ensure that as much of donor investments go directly to the women served, WfWI often seeks to partner with other International Non-Governmental Organizations, streamline administrative functions, and innovate in order to reduce financial burdens required to carry out the mission. Working alongside external auditors, WfWI annually evaluates financial practices and all costs incurred to make sure all expenditures are not only ethical but in the best interest of the nearly 500,000 women served to date. If you have any questions about actions being taken by the organization to reduce overhead, or would like to know more about the cost to serve marginalized women in conflict affected countries, please contact Director of Development, Sean Maloney, at (202) 521-9522.
