OPERA America (OA) leads the entire opera community - administrators, artists, trustees and audiences - in support of the creation, presentation and enjoyment of opera.
Since 1970, OA has been dedicated to strengthening the human resources, business practices and collective knowledge that empower the field to build, broaden and serve communities through opera. From national convenings and professional development, to grantmaking and research, its programs support new work development, career training for artists and administrators, organizational innovation, civic practice strategies, strong governance and public appreciation for the art form.
Its membership includes 150 opera companies; over 250 associate, business and education members; and 1,750 individuals. In 2012, OPERA America expanded its service to the opera field by opening the National Opera Center in midtown Manhattan, a custom-built facility that serves more than 80,000 visitors annually.
