Building the movement to eliminate educational inequity

Would like TFA to respond.
Posted by Clrbrook  |  October 5, 2009 6:17:06 AM

Because one of my daughters was a TFA teacher, I have a strong history of belief in the TFA mission. However, the same daughter became a Master's level professional teacher and has some experience with another facet of the educational world. Because of this, I would like to understand how TFA is continuing to fill needed slots in needful communities without slipping into the role of filling slots for economically pressed districts who have fired solid paid professional teachers and are using TFA to cover the gap. This means that instead of standing in where hireable quality teaching can't be found, TFA would be used by districts who need to avoid hiring trained professionals that are available. Would appreciate some discussion/response. Thank you.
