Global Volunteers Does NOT Deserve a 4-Star Rating
Posted by FormerVolunteer  |  June 3, 2009 10:26:06 AM

The GV organization rips off its Volunteers financially, charging them huge amounts in order to support their CEO, office staff, and staff in the field (which, I believe, should not be considered as funds for the program -- they are administrative costs). GV has also been misleading in their advertising and dishonest in charging fees to their volunteers. I will never again donate or volunteer for Global Volunteers. I believe you are misrepresenting them with 4-Stars.

Needs and Services

Many of the communities visited by this group are given items based on limited perception of needs- however there is no supply of retroviral drugs for HIV, there is no means of running sanitary water for some area, and no electricity. I could not ever take a paycheck if I knew how many people will die this year because of what you didn't do (Make sure the CEO gets paid) Region by region, country by country I think of the faces that cost me sleep at night, and very simple solutions to daily life that seem to be overlooked.
