The Hunger Project
Empowering women and men to end their own hunger
Glad to see The Hunger Project is still alive
Posted by Elisheva | January 9, 2008 6:11:28 AM
I was there at the very beginning. November 14, 1977. I raised money by selling the "Ask Me About The Hunger Project" buttons that I created. I am so glad to see that the organization is still working on ending hunger. Originally, hunger was supposed to end in 1997. And to quote Werner Erhardt's "An Idea whose Time Has Come." Thanks, Werner. But to be a bit cynical -- it has been over 10 years and we still have hunger in the world. What happened? Or, what didn't happen?

Thanks, Elisheva. While the world cut hunger in half by 1997, in the process we discovered much more about deeply entrenched social conditions that give rise to the remaining hunger. Under FAQ on www.thp.org you'll see this question addressed, and throughout the site you'll learn about the results of our new strategies that are empowering people to overcome the world's remaining hunger and extreme poverty.
