Charity thieves targeting So Md in mid-July, 2009
Posted by samira_catlover  |  July 24, 2009 6:04:14 AM

This bunch (Courtesy Call was the paid fundraiser) tried to convince me we'd given them $35 last year--no data on if via Paypal, credit card, or check. (FWIW, we track all charitable donations on a papersheet for fast reference. The previous "assistance" was just so much bull. We support Komen, and no others, not wishing to split support.)

When I demanded to talk with a supervisor, got one "Sharon Jackson", who could not provide any info on percentages for fundraising/ administrative cost/direct services---kept trying to refer me to a tollfree number. Pointed out that THEY had called me, were tying up my landline, and that I had no huge need or desire to chase down possible charitable groups--there were plenty of reliable, honest charities out there.

Demanded that this group _and_ Courtesy Call remove me from their lists---we are already on DO NOT CALL Lists. If they call again, what recourse do I have?--where do I file a federal complaint?

Have received several calls this calendar year from Courtesy Call---am convinced that _any_ group that uses this fundraiser is VERY HIGHLY questionable.
