Mission
Best Friends Animal Society is a national nonprofit organization committed to animal welfare. The mission of Best Friends is to bring about a time when there are No More Homeless Pets®. Established in 1984, Best Friends is working to bring about a time when homeless, unwanted animals are no longer being destroyed in shelter s, and when every healthy companion animal can be guaranteed a good life in a caring home. Working with our members, supporters, and other animal welfare organizations Best Friends works to provide sanctuary to our resident animals; serve the public and local animal welfare organizations around the country through community programming and services; and support local and national animal rescue operations. Presently, Best Friends has a network presence in 72 city and state sites and provides direct animal welfare services in Utah, Nevada, California, Illinois, New York, Florida, Missouri, Washington DC, Maryland, and Georgia.
