Mission

Founded in 1913, the Houston Symphony is one of America's oldest performing arts organizations, with a rich history of musical excellence. The mission of the Houston Symphony is to inspire and enrich the lives of our diverse citizenry through outstanding symphonic music performed by our great orchestra. Each season, the Orchestra presents more than 170 concerts attended by an estimated 350,000 people, and Orchestra musicians reach more than 15,000 Houstonians in schools, hospitals, retirement homes, shelters and community centers as part of the Houston Symphony Community Connections outreach endeavor.
