Mission

Mercy Corps exists to alleviate suffering, poverty and oppression by helping people build secure, productive and just communities. Since 1979, Mercy Corps has provided $1.7 billion in assistance to people in 107 nations. Mercy Corps provides immediate, sustaining humanitarian assistance, always with the goal of hastening recovery. As the most urgent needs are met, we immediately move toward programming that pursues longer-term stability and prosperity. Mercy Corps believes that solving social problems in the developing world requires blending sustainable, entrepreneurial strategies with a deep knowledge of local culture and context.
