Mission

Hamilton College was founded in 1793 as the Hamilton-Oneida Academy and then chartered in 1812. Hamilton, a liberal arts college with an emphasis on individualized instruction and independent research, is a national leader in teaching effective writing and persuasive speaking. Hamilton College has an enrollment of approximately 1,775 students from 49 U.S. states and 45 countries.
