Mission

Hamilton College was founded in 1793 as the Hamilton-Oneida Academy and then chartered in 1812. Hamilton, a liberal arts college with an emphasis on individualized instruction and independent research, is a national leader in teaching effective writing and persuasive speaking. Hamilton College has an enrollment of approximately 1,775 students from 49 U.S. states and 45 countries. Hamilton's curriculum provides its highly motivated students with both the freedom and responsibility to make educational choices that emphasize breadth and depth.
