Mission

Since 1953 the Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County has been providing refuge and help to the animals of Indian River County. The Society, which operates the county's only animal shelter, aids over 7,000 animals annually. No animal - young, old, domestic or wild, homeless, lost, ill or injured - is ever turned away. The Society provides shelter and care for every animal that comes to the Shelter; and animal rescue for the sick, lost or cruelly treated. The Adoption & Education and Receiving Center provide ample room for education programs, adoption counseling, pet behavior help and training, special areas for foster care, a chapel for grief counseling, and a medical/surgery suite.
