Mission

Formed in 1999, the Civil War Preservation Trust (CWPT) is America's largest non-profit organization devoted to the preservation of our nation's endangered Civil War battlefields. The Trust boasts a combined membership of 73,000 dedicated individuals who have helped to save more than 25,000 acres of Civil War battlefields in 18 states. The Trust also promotes educational programs and heritage tourism initiatives to inform the public of the war's history and the fundamental conflicts that sparked it. Public education programs offered by CWPT include: Civil War Discovery Trail, Civil War Explorer, Battlefield Interpretation and Park Day.
