Mission

The Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund (LELDF) provides assistance to law enforcement officers when it is necessary for them to defend actions taken in the line of duty to enforce the law. The means and methods of assistance used by the LELDF include providing financial support through supplementing legal fees; providing legal support by serving as co-counsel; educating the public, the media, educational institutions, and governmental bodies regarding the role of law enforcement officers; encouraging counseling and education for youth in the role and functions of the law enforcement officers; promoting understanding of the role of law enforcement officers and the criminal justice process; and conducting or presenting studies, research, and statistical surveys or other information to government agencies.
