Mission
Founded in 1972, the American Associates, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (AABGU) is a partner in the University's mission to develop the Negev and build a world-class institution of research and education in the desert. AABGU plays a vital role in helping Ben-Gurion University (BGU) fulfill its unique responsibility to develop the bold new vision for the Negev, the focus of the future of Israel and the world. BGU was created in 1969 to transform the Negev through creative thinking and a commitment to excellence. It was David Ben-Gurion's belief that individual initiative and original ideas could make the desert bloom.
