Nonprofits Impacted by USAID Closure
Support highly rated charities continuing vital global work that have been affected by USAID closure.
What's currently happening?
The global aid landscape has shifted dramatically. In 2025, sweeping U.S. foreign aid cuts and the effective shutdown of USAID as an independent agency led to thousands of program terminations worldwide, leaving many nonprofits with sudden funding gaps and communities without essential support. These cuts are disrupting food assistance, health services, climate and conservation efforts, economic opportunity, and governance and education work in some of the world’s most vulnerable places.
How are nonprofits responding?
Amid these challenges, nonprofits are working urgently to keep critical programs running. Many former USAID partners are restructuring budgets, finding new funders, and adapting their models so that nutrition programs, primary health care, HIV and TB services, emergency response, and education can continue.
How can you help?
Charity Navigator has updated its curated list of highly rated nonprofits significantly affected by these changes and still active on the front lines. By giving to one — or many — through the Giving Basket, you can help close urgent funding gaps and ensure this critical work continues when it is needed most.
If you are a U.S.-registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit affected by the recent USAID funding cuts, our partner Golden is offering support. Please visit this link to learn more and apply.
