On Monday, January 9, President Biden declared a state of emergency for many California counties impacted by catastrophic flooding. Severe storms over the past couple weeks have led to flash flooding and mudslides, causing thousands of evacuations. The storm has killed at least 14 people as of this posting, and a 5-year-old boy is missing after being swept away by a flooded creek.
