On Friday, March 24, 2023, an estimated EF-4 tornado tore through the lower Mississippi River Valley destroying communities and taking the lives of over two dozen people. The tornado traversed around 170 miles of mostly rural communities, displacing hundreds of residents. President Biden approved a federal disaster declaration early Sunday. More bad weather is expected in the coming weeks, threatening to increase the severity of the crisis.
