St. Georges Society of New York

    Mission

St. George’s Society of New York is a charity dedicated to enriching the quality of life for people in need through an established support system within the British and Commonwealth community of New York. Fueled by a passionate membership community, we create a social outlet that cultivates a sense of belonging and celebrates our uniquely British roots, all while supporting our philanthropic purpose. Established in 1770, St. George’s Society of New York (SGSNY) is one of the oldest charities in America. SGSNY devotes over $1 million each year to help people across New York’s five boroughs. With the support of a committed membership community, our small team of 5 administrative staff and 2 social workers manage SGSNY’s charitable programming focused in three areas: protecting seniors at risk of homelessness, isolation, and neglect; advancing economic and social mobility through education for low-income college students at CUNY universities and supporting families affected by pediatric cancer traveling to New York for treatment.
