Mission

At Bridges to Healing International, our mission is to support unaccompanied and orphaned children and young adults facing unmet health challenges. Our short-term goal is to help them feel better each day, while our long-term vision is to empower them to lead fulfilling and productive lives. We take a personalized approach, focusing on one young person at a time. We firmly believe that every individual deserves to live with dignity, have access to essential medical care, and receive dedicated support to ease the suffering caused by illness and disease. Our work creates a vital BRIDGE between institutional care settings and local medical resources, ensuring comprehensive physical and mental healthcare.

Goals

1.BRIDGING HEALTHCARE GAPS We bridge critical gaps in healthcare for youth living in shelters. A cornerstone of our success is our investment in full-time, local nurses, who provide consistent medical care and serve as case managers. The nurses help facilitate collaboration with local clinics, laboratories, and hospitals, ensuring access to comprehensive and specialized care.
2.HEALTHCARE FOR YOUNG WOMEN FLEEING FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION (FGM) & CHILD MARRIAGE - BTHI provides critical medical care and case management to young women escaping FGM and child marriage. This was in response to a specific need in the community we serve. We ensure they receive immediate medical attention upon arrival at shelters.
3.SPECIALIZED CARE FOR THOSE WITH DISABILITIES - We provide specialized care to young people with disabilities living in shelters, focusing on physical and occupational therapy and life skills development. Our mission is to empower them to make informed healthcare decisions and advocate for inclusion and equal access, regardless of background or ability.
