On May 15, 2014, the IRS automatically revoked the federal tax exemption status of National Tipster for "failure to file a Form 990-series return or notice for three consecutive years." For this reason, we have issued a High Concern CN Advisory. For more information, please see the IRS register for tax-exempt organizations.
On January 10, 2020, KSBY reported on the charges of improper conduct allegedly taking place at National Tipster in an article titled, "Lompoc business targeted by fake charity, police say." For this reason, we have issued a Moderate Concern CN Advisory as the allegations have yet to be confirmed. For more information regarding this matter, please see the KSBY article.
The concerns raised about organizational legitimacy and/or federal tax law compliance are serious both in nature and scope and have thus warranted this CN Advisory. We have published this advisory to provide donors with content that they may find useful when making their giving decisions. Charity Navigator is not responsible for the nature or content of the information presented through external sources and websites. For more information on how or when we decide to publish a CN Advisory, please review our methodology.
