The nonpartisan North Carolina Institute of Political Leadership is committed to improving the practice of democracy through its premier nonpartisan leadership training programs for public servants, both elected and appointed.

Goals

1.IOPL's Fellows program is in its 37th year of operation. Our top priority is continuing that proud legacy and adapting the curriculum to a Post COVID environment.
2.The Women on Board program came to IOPL as a result of a 2013 merger with the NC Center for Women in Public Service. IOPL is relaunching that program in 2023 with the help of national partners.
3.This Fall's televised Hometown Debate series will focus on education issues, including teacher licensure, workforce development and university admissions policies.
