The Board approved the enrollment of the CEO in a business training class where she would learn best practices from the for-profit business sector for implementation when appropriate in the non-profit sector. The CEO has been a guest on Bloomburg TV and CSPAN discussing the important role of health care for the unisnured and the non-profit sector. The NAFC is a member of the Independent Sector to promote the efforts and impacts of the non-profit sector to Congress, the public and the press.

The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.
Like most organizations, COVID-19 had a major impact on the work that we do. In the early stages of COVID-19 the shortage of personal protective equipment was discussed for hospitals and private doctors offices. America's 1,400 Free and Charitable Clinics are on the frontlines providing access to health care to the medically underserved, however, our members did not have access to masks or gloves. Given this, the NAFC decided to reach out to as many companies as possible and get access to masks and gloves for our members. Many companies would not ship to our clinics, but would only ship to the NAFC headquarters. Therefore, in response to this challenge, the 3 NAFC staff members accepted these donations at our offices and then packed over 50,000 masks to send to clinics around the country. This new program area of accepting in-kind donations of masks, gloves, and socks has allowed our members to continue to provide care to their patients while being protected at the same time.
