Mission

Local organizations have the trust, knowledge, and social capital required to serve their communities. However, less than 6% of U.S. philanthropic giving goes directly to grassroots organizations located abroad. To solve this inequity, we have been bolstering organizations addressing the impacts of poverty, poor health, economic insecurity, homelessness, and insufficient opportunities facing children and youth in Africa, Asia, and Central America since 2000. Our community's services include connecting underserved children to quality education and life-saving pediatric care, offering job training in communities plagued with high unemployment, and providing afterschool programs in impoverished urban centers, among many others.

A world where locally-led organizations are fully supported as the driving force to lift children out of poverty.

Goals

1.Create a pathway for philanthropists in the United States to support grassroots organizations that are increasing access to education, healthcare, economic opportunity, safety, nutrition, and shelter for children in under resourced communities outside the United States.
2.Help grassroots organizations in under-resourced communities connect and learn from each other and receive training on building strong and sustainable organizations that can lift children out of poverty for generations.
3.Fund grassroots organizations' efforts to improve operational strength and sustainability through fiscal responsibility, effective governance, diversified funding, and community responsiveness, so the funded organizations continue to be a source of hope, empowerment, and opportunity for generations of children.
