The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year
This past year, we dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic, economic collapses and the Afghan refugee crisis. It was a challenging year, but our commitment to assist those in need and restore the dignity and wellbeing of those affected by conflict and economic hardship grew. We understood that exceptional measures needed to be taken to ensure an effective response to these exceptional situations. We therefore expanded our outreach campaigns, multiplied our fundraising activities, and enrolled more volunteers to meet the needs of our families. With the repeated lockdowns, we had challenges meeting our clients in persons so communicated with them via video and audio conferences, we conducted contactless deliveries, and we used tools such as instacart to help families with their grocery needs. Moreover, with the arrival of the almost 10,000 Afghan refugees at the air force base in New Jersey, we partnered with local officials and military leaders to organize events such as welcoming dinner and moral boosting benefit concert for our refugee guests while taking the steps to abide by state pandemic response guidelines.
