Vision

Lamp of Learning envisions a San Diego where every high achieving student has a clear and confident path to a university education. We strive to create a future in which first generation scholars can rise without barriers, supported by strong mentoring, meaningful community partnerships, and opportunities that match their potential. Our goal is a generation of leaders who carry their success forward and strengthen the communities that helped them grow.

Goals

1. 1.Ignite is growing through stronger school engagement and greater teacher awareness. The program expanded from 24 students in year one to 40 in year two and 104 in year three. We will keep building partnerships, increase outreach, and scale our seminars so more first generation students receive the guidance they need for college success.
2. 2.Lamp of Learning’s Family Fuel Program builds on years of seeing students struggle with family tension around college. This proven need makes the program especially valuable. Through parent workshops, we strengthen support for first generation students and help them stay on track while staying connected to their communities.
3. 3.We are expanding our scholarship programs to support more high achieving students as they take their next step toward college. By increasing outreach, strengthening partnerships, and growing our donor base, we will open more doors for first generation scholars and ensure they have the resources they need to succeed.
