Like many foundations and boards during COVID-19 we were faced with redefining how we operate to adjust to the new virtual environment. Our pre-COVID-19 operating strategy strongly relied on introducing interested donors to our mission by inviting them to go on a journey with us through one of our Houston area Fisher Houses to truly get a feel for what their donations would do to help the Foundation continue to support those who so need the benefits of residing at one of the three houses. With the tour option no longer available to us during COVID and still today, we have made the transition to virtual meeting platforms to hold foundation board meetings, recruit additional board and Advisory Committee members, and engage with interested corporate and individual donors. We’ve further realized that our Foundation website also needs to be revamped to adapt to a more virtual environment. We are currently working to upgrade our website to better allow interested volunteers and donors to contact us with ideas and possible donations. The foundation’s board members have spent the last year learning how better to support the Fisher Houses by simplifying our ways of working in a virtual environment without increasing expenses/cost to operate while continuing to increase the public’s awareness of our mission and meeting our goals to support our Nation’s veteran community
