Our organization provides opportunities for training and development, board leadership education, and DEI coursework to help members become more culturally competent, empathetic, and self-aware.

Our organization prioritizes the health and wellbeing of our nation's combat veterans and their families. We are dedicated to engaging in partnerships with other nonprofits to collaborate in a holistic approach that increases the quality of life for these individuals. We often speak at national conferences as well as to local groups to raise awareness for our mission.

Many of our combat veterans have described returning to civilian life as more difficult than combat itself. The transition to civilian life can be challenging and navigating community resources can be overwhelming. This challenge was exacerbated during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through our conversations with veterans in our Dental program, and identifying other stressors that impacted their wellbeing, the E4V Wingman program was born. Our Wingman Program comes from the Airforce concept for flying next to the lead aircraft to provide protective support. Some examples include securing resources to provide veterinary care for a veteran’s service dog and providing warm weather clothing and gifts to the children of veterans during the holiday season. By walking alongside, them through their dental care and offering wrap-around support and gap services, we are meeting the needs of the whole person. This helps them feel supported by their local community and eases the transition to civilian life while improving their overall quality of life. When Christophe came to E4V he was dealing with severe chronic pain that impacted all aspects of his life. He was sleeping on a sofa and working a number of part-time jobs to make ends meet. We were able to assign Christophe to a volunteer dentist in his community to begin restoring adequate function, relieving pain and infection, and establishing adequate aesthetics. While working with our team, he disclosed his sleep situation, and we were able to connect him to a Wingman volunteer that provided a new bed frame and mattress for him. Now that his dental treatment is complete and he is sleeping comfortably, his life has changed. He has been able to become a full-time teacher, and active member of his community, and now that he is well-rested and pain-free, he is able to be the engaged father that he has longed to be. This Wingman Mission was completed safely and fully virtually as we pivoted to the challenges of the pandemic.
