Mission

WHEAT’s mission is to protect survivors, prevent violence and empower domestic violence, non-intimate partner sexual assault, and human trafficking survivors. We believe that: “When you make the system work for the most marginalized and at risk, you help the system work better for everyone.” We accomplish this by providing trauma-informed support services to survivors that help them survive crisis, rebuild their lives, and achieve brighter futures as they go through transitional periods in their lives.

Vision

WHEAT is founded on the vision and belief of this project title that, “HEALING STARTS HERE”, and every person has the right to be safe, empowered, free from fear, and free from violence.

Goals

1.Enhance Trauma-Informed Support Services: Expand and refine programs to ensure comprehensive, trauma-informed care for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. This includes increasing access to mental health services, housing support, and legal advocacy tailored to diverse survivor needs.
2.Ensure Organizational Sustainability and Growth: Secure diverse funding streams through grants, donations, and partnerships to sustain and expand services. Prioritize staff development, technology integration, and efficient resource management to enhance service delivery and impact.
3.Strengthen Community Outreach and Prevention: Develop and implement robust community education initiatives to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and prevent interpersonal violence. Focus on forming strategic partnerships with schools, faith-based organizations, and community leaders.
