Mission
The National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) ensures human rights protections for immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers, promoting access to justice, family integrity, and community safety. NIJC’s mission is to establish and defend the legal rights of immigrants regardless of background and transform the immigration system to one that affords equal opportunity for all. A nationally recognized leader in immigrant rights, NIJC uniquely blends individual client advocacy with broad-based systemic change. NIJC provides direct legal services and advocates for immigrant populations through impact litigation, public education, and policy reform. NIJC provides legal services to 10,000 people annually, including children, detained immigrants, LGBTQ, and survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking. With a staff of over 100, and a network of 2,000 pro bono attorneys, NIJC leverages local and national partners to protect immigrant rights and maximize impact.
