Californians for Population Stabilization

Californians for Population Stabilization (CAPS) works to formulate and advance policies and programs designed to stabilize the population of California at a level which will preserve a good quality of life for all Californians. Founded in 1986, CAPS works to preserve California's future through the stabilization of our state's human population. Since nearly all of California's population growth comes from immigration, CAPS focuses largely on this issue: sponsoring public and media awareness campaigns, working with lawmakers to promote more responsible policies, maintaining a growing network of member-activists, and conducting vital research. CAPS is confronting the most important issue facing California and the United States: runaway population growth.

CAPS participates in mission-based development opportunities available through our vendor platforms, including fundraising, public awareness and legislative forums and webinars that assist us in improving relevant growth in these areas. We plan to expand these endeavors into leadership development in the near future.

CAPS engages with other, similar interest non-profits in order to share information, ideas and strategy as they relate to public awareness. Our marketing activities include impactful digital and social media campaigns and strategic messaging that amplifies our mission with measurable success deliverables. CAPS informs and engages new and current supporters with meaningful advocacy and a state of the art utility upon which the public's voice can be heard by decision-makers, influencers and lawmakers at local, state and federal levels. Plans for digital storytelling, expansion of social media platforms, and strategic media and other partnerships are just a few goals for CAPS in 2022.

Our organization adapted to external changes in the last year by staying true to our mission and steadily focused on best practices for messaging and growth, while remaining flexible as unforecasted circumstances arose. As hundreds of thousands of people spent more time online, CAPS worked diligently to engage and educate an increased audience seeking facts, data, and tools. Implementing and enhancing our strong digital presence during uncertain times made us remarkably aware of our strengths and weaknesses and we were able to respond accordingly. We also maintained close communication with our steadfast support base, sharing feedback, gratitude and positivity during trying times for all.
