Donation Processing Fees

Our site’s giving basket is powered by Network for Good. We have selected Network for Good as our donation vendor for many reasons, including:

• they have the ability to process donations to any nonprofit,
• they have a record of quality customer service,
• they are completely transparent about their fees – even giving donors the option to cover the fees,
• the fees are tax-deductible,
• donors can give anonymously,
• for those donors that choose not to give anonymously, the charities can easily access reports on their supporters,
• and, finally, their fees are comparatively low.

Specifically, Network for Good charges a 3.95% tax-deductible fee which donors can add or deduct from their gift. This fee is used to pay banks, credit card companies and other administrative costs. Charity Navigator does not profit from the fees.

Once you know that there is a fee, you may think that giving directly to a charity would be a way to avoid all the costs. However, the charities themselves incur fees when processing your gifts. The difference is that Network for Good is explicit in explaining those costs and offers you the opportunity to cover those fees.
