Celebrating Mother's Day

Last year, Mother’s Day was like no other.

With social distancing and mandatory quarantines in place, many of us were physically incapable of being with our mothers or mother-figures. As it was in 2020, we should not overlook the harsh reality that many mothers have been lost during the pandemic, as well as those who were lost before. We wish to pay homage to them. So, today, on Mother’s Day, we celebrate the people who raised us, but how do we celebrate during a time of crisis?

By honoring her.

We want to honor all mothers and adopted mothers like grandmothers, aunts, sisters, cousins, anyone who stepped into the mother-role for you in your life. We recognize that there is no one type of “mom” out there. Whether she’s the artist, the teacher, the animal lover, the healer, or the change-maker, she should be honored for the impact and difference she made in your life.

Honor her this Mother’s Day by donating to a nonprofit and cause she cares about in her name. We’ve compiled a list of trustworthy organizations that fit under these categories of different types of moms. By no means do we think these categories cover all women. You can still use our search engine to find a cause that is special to her.

We’ve created the hashtag #ihonormymother. We’d love to see your photos (tag us! @CharityNav) on social media of how you honor your mother this special Mother’s Day.
