On September 28, a magnitude 7.5 earthquake along the Palu-Koro faultline triggered a deadly tsunami in Indonesia. Violent, ten-foot waves flooded the coastal cities of Palu and Donggala. They swept away homes and businesses, and destroyed roads, bridges, and other crucial infrastructure. Officials have announced that more than 1,900 people were killed, and expect the death toll to rise as they begin clearing rubble and debris.

Palu and Donggala, the hardest hit cities, are in desperate need of aid and relief. Officials are having a difficult time reaching some of the worst-affected areas and report that basic supplies like food, water, and medicine are running low. Teams are working tirelessly to rescue and evacuate survivors, and clear paths to reach more people and deliver aid. Indonesian President Joko Widodo has an authorized a request for international aid and relief support in the wake of the tsunami.

Charity Navigator has compiled this list of highly-rated organizations that are responding in the aftermath of this devastating tsunami.
