May is ALS Awareness Month.

Many of you may remember the Ice Bucket Challenge, an activity involving the dumping of a bucket of ice water over a person's head to promote awareness of the disease and encourage donations to research. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease or ALS, is a nervous system disease that weakens muscles and impacts physical function. In this disease, nerve cells break down, which reduces functionality in the muscles they supply. Medication and therapy can slow ALS and reduce discomfort, but there's no cure.

Show your support for those living with ALS by donating to one of these trusted nonprofits who are working to discover a cure and working to support the ALS community.
