For almost 20 years, Charity Navigator has been a trusted resource for unbiased nonprofit evaluations. At this pivotal and important moment in our nation's history, we feel that it’s important to stress that injustice of any kind cannot be tolerated in a fully democratic society.
Charity Navigator is a small but mighty team. Our 22-person staff comes from a diverse range of backgrounds. We are united in our belief that people of all races, colors, and creeds must be treated equally. Black Lives Matter and civil rights must be given and guaranteed.
Many are raising awareness and funds for nonprofit organizations defending civil rights, protecting legal rights, and promoting tolerance and understanding.
Charity Navigator has curated a list of civil rights nonprofits whose work is national in scope and who have received 3 and 4-star ratings, indicating that they are financially healthy and transparent in their operations. This list can be viewed at charitynavigator.org/civilrights. Some notable inclusions are the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People), ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union Foundation), Center for Constitutional Rights and Headwaters Foundation for Social Justice, a nonprofit out of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
We encourage you, if you're able to do so, to consider supporting a trustworthy nonprofit combating racial injustice. Donations of all sizes will equip these organizations to advocate for change and help communities disproportionately impacted. By supporting organizations fighting for equality and legal rights, you'll be helping support an organization working to make the world a better place (something we could all use now more than ever).
