Historical CN Advisories

08/20/2019-12/01/2020: Moderate Concern Advisory

In accordance with our policy for removing CN Advisories, Charity Navigator removed the Moderate Concern CN Advisory for the World Wildlife Fund on December 1, 2020, because the CN Advisory has been in place for more than a year (since August 20, 2019), and because the issues that prompted the CN Advisory have been resolved. Specifically:

  • The World Wildlife Fund provided public domain documentation that shows that the issues identified in the CN Advisory have been resolved and that WWF has taken action steps to prevent the issue from happening again. You can learn more about the organizations efforts and the results of an internal review undertaken in response to the issues that prompted our CN Advisory by visiting their website here.

Charity Navigator had published a Moderate Concern CN Advisory on World Wildlife Fund because we became aware of the following information in connection with this charity:

  • On June 6, 2019, it came to the attention of Charity Navigator that World Wildlife Fund is the subject of an investigation by The House Natural Resources Committee according to an article titled, "House Panel Investigates Whether U.S. Funds Anti-Poaching Efforts Linked To Rights Abuses." For this reason, we have issued a Moderate Concern CN Advisory. For more information regarding the charges reported, please see The Huffington Post article.
