Child Foundation helps children in need, who have been identified as high achievers, to remain in school. Since 1994, Child Foundation has provided basic necessities to children living in poverty or hardship. By providing access to education, Child Foundation hopes to eliminate children prematurely leaving school, and, in certain countries, early matrimony. We believe that education can move a child beyond the stigma of poverty, and give that child the tools to reach his or her true potential.

2010-05 12/10/2010 --Donor Advisory

Prior to 9/1/2016, Charity Navigator issued Advisories under the name CN Watchlist and Donor Advisory. For more information on the CN Advisory system click here. This charity was issued a DA.

This donor advisory was published on Friday, December 10, 2010

In accordance with our policy for removing Donor Advisories, Charity Navigator removed the Donor Advisory for Child Foundation on October 1, 2014 because the Donor Advisory had been in place for more than a year (since December 2010) and because the issue that prompted the Donor Advisory has been resolved. Specifically:

  • Child Foundation has fully complied with all terms of probation set by the court and completed its two year probation in March 2014.
  • Child Foundation has created a compliance manual ensuring strict compliance with the rules and regulations. For more information, please see the letter of explanation provided by the Child Foundation.

Charity Navigator had published a Donor Advisory for this charity because we became aware of the following information in connection with this charity:

  • It had been reported that the Child Foundation plead guilty to charges involving the Iranian Embargo. For more information, please see the FBI's press release
  • In response, Child Foundation published a Q&A document to help keep its stakeholders informed.
  • In March 2012, it was reported that a judge fined Child Foundation $50,000 and put the nonprofit on probation for two years. For more information, see an article from The Oregonian.
