Charity Response

Child Saving Institute Provided Charity Navigator with the following response:

Child Saving Institute (CSI) takes seriously its responsibility to protect children. When the agency was notified that a former shelter youth made an allegation of inappropriate contact with a former staff member, Child Saving Institute notified Child Protective Services and law enforcement. The staff member was no longer employed with CSI as of August 1, 2017, prior to the agency being notified of the allegations.

CSI fully cooperates with all investigative bodies regarding any allegations of abuse and/or neglect and supports prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.

All personnel undergo both criminal and child/adult abuse background screenings prior to employment. Staff receive training on a variety of topics including appropriate and professional boundaries with clients, identifying and reporting abuse and neglect, and the laws around mandatory reporting.

Out of respect to the confidentiality and privacy of all clients, CSI does not comment about individual clients, nor does it comment on individual personnel matters.

CSI is deeply saddened by this situation and the harm caused to the youth involved.

The concerns raised about illegal activity, improper conduct, or organizational mismanagement are serious both in nature and scope and have thus warranted this CN Advisory. We have published this advisory to provide donors with content that they may find useful when making their giving decisions. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the authors of sources used for the reported information, and not those of Charity Navigator.
