2010-12 01/29/2014 --Donor Advisory

Prior to 9/1/2016, Charity Navigator issued Advisories under the name CN Watchlist and Donor Advisory. For more information on the CN Advisory system click here. This charity was issued a DA.

This donor advisory was published on Wednesday, January 29, 2014

In accordance with our policy for removing Donor Advisories, Charity Navigator removed the Donor Advisory Vaad Harabanim L’Inyanei Tzeduka on February 1, 2015 because the Donor Advisory had been in place for more than a year (since January 2014) and because the issue that prompted the Donor Advisory has been resolved. Specifically:

  • Vaad Harabbanim L’Inyanei Tzeduka filed its FYE 12/2012 Form 990.

Charity Navigator had published a Donor Advisory for this charity because we became aware of the following information in connection with this charity:

  • Charities are required to file the Form 990 (annual tax return) with the IRS annually.  A 501(c)3 public charity must file their Form 990 by the 15th day of the 5th month after the organization's accounting period ends. An organization can request a three month extension, which is granted automatically, upon filing Form 8868 with the IRS. An organization can file for another three month extension, but it will be reviewed and the application must show reasonable cause for the additional time required.  For more on this please page 6 of the IRS Form 990 instructions

  • Charity Navigator receives the Form 990 for all charities we rate on a monthly basis directly from the IRS. The last Form 990 for this charity we received was for the 2010 tax year. We reached out to Vaad Harabbanim L'lnyanei Tzeduka to obtain a more recent Form 990, but we either did not received a reply or if we did receive a reply it was an inadequate explanation as to why it hadn't filed a more recent return with the IRS. We were therefore unable to evaluate Vaad Harabbanim L'lnyanei Tzeduka and thus issued a Donor Advisory.
