Results Information

Program Name: PetAid Community Outreach
Problem

PetAid Community Outreach typically serves seniors, people with disabilities, the homeless, and others unable to obtain veterinary care. Providing their pets with the needed medical services that wouldn't have been available under ordinary circumstances helps motivate many of our clients to once again find joy in daily living, thereby bettering their social interaction, life satisfaction, mental function, and overall mood. In an effort to address these needs, a mobile unit was donated to PetAid.

Strategy

Specific areas of need are determined through PetAid's collaboration with trusted partners and community leaders. Once identified, the Community Outreach program can begin educating clients in basic home pet care and disease prevention while also counseling about the non-medical needs of their pets, such as behavior and nutrition. On average, over 35 pets per clinic are able to receive care while also establishing a bond-centered relationship between the veterinary team, pet owner, and patient.

IF:THEN

IF If PetAid Colorado can work to eliminate the financial, physical, and geographical barriers to veterinary care...

THEN Then we can provide as many at-risk animals as possible with the medical services they both need and deserve in order to prevent unnecessary suffering, relinquishment or euthanasia.
