The Life is Good Kids Foundation helps kids overcome poverty, violence, and illness by using the power of joyful play to heal and strengthen children. We support the men and women who dedicate their careers to helping children heal from the devastating impact of early childhood trauma. We provide a continuum of personal and professional development resources that help childcare professionals tap into the power of optimism and build healing, life-changing relationships with children in their care. Our initiative is based on the belief that in order to better care for the most vulnerable children, we must better support those who care for them.

Impact Information

Classy created Progress to help nonprofits and social enterprises articulate their performance by combining qualitative insights on program strategies and beneficiaries, with quantitative metrics on social problems, short term outputs and long term intended outcomes.  Learn More about Impact Information.
Program Name: Life is Good Kids Foundation - Online Course and Digital Training Program
Problem

Results from the CDC’s 1998 Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) Study found that over 2/3’s of children have experienced an ACE (abuse, neglect, trauma). Of the 73.6mm children in the US –49mm of our children are affected by trauma and almost 43mm have been exposed to multiple ACE’s. The LiGKF’s approach is rooted in building healing, life-changing relationships with survivors of childhood trauma requires both an outstanding professional skill set as well as outstanding personal disposition.

Strategy

The Life is Good Kids Foundation is creating a Digital Training Program (DTP) on Optimism & the 10 Superpowers for our rapidly growing community of childcare professionals working with vulnerable kids across the US and Haiti. The DTP will allow LIGKF to scale our work in a sustainable way and meet the rising demand for our program from large, strategic partners like National Head Start Association, SHAPE America, Teammates for Kids National Hospital Network.

IF:THEN

IF Our ultimate goal is to use technology to help childcare professionals growth their own inherent superpowers so that they will be more successful in helping the children in their care grow their own....

THEN Imagine how the world would be different if we figured out how to help people grow their capacity to love, to share compassion, to act with courage, etc. These very human “soft skills” are the things that can eventually lead to harmony and peace.
