HSHV's mission is to support the loving, responsible care of all animals in our community by:
-Ensuring proper, nurturing care for the animals in our shelter
-Placing all adoptable animals in loving homes
-Reducing pet over-population
-Caring for the physical well-being of animals in our community
-Providing education and outreach to the community
-Stopping animal cruelty

We are the only animal shelter in Washtenaw County that takes in all types of unwanted, injured, lost, stray, abandoned, and abused animals. Last year, we helped over 13,000 animals with some form of mission-related services.

We ended 2011 with another record-breaking save rate of 81.5 % and were honored a second year in row by the Michigan Pet Fund Alliance for having the highest save rate of any shelter like us Michigan.
