The mission of Keep Indianapolis Beautiful is to engage diverse communities to create vibrant public places, helping people and nature thrive. Each year, approximately 30,000 volunteers dig in together on more than 500 community improvement projects. These projects include tree plantings, creating greenspaces and pocket parks, outdoor classrooms, and litter clean ups. Founded in 1976 as a city agency, the organization became a nonprofit in 1981. Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc. (KIB) is an award-winning affiliate of the national nonprofit, Keep America Beautiful.
