Founded in 1990, the Family Giving Tree's mission is to inspire the values of kindness, philanthropy and volunteerism through programs serving local Bay Area communities. We partner with more than 500 schools, service agencies and nonprofits, such as homeless shelters, community centers, rehabilitation houses, and various charitable organizations to stage two major drives each year. The Holiday Wish drive has provided gifts for over one million San Francisco Bay Area children, families and seniors from low-income households. The Family Giving Tree also provides backpacks filled with school supplies to those children in the most need in our communities. Each summer, corporate and community Drive Leaders collect new backpacks full of essential, grade-appropriate school supplies for Bay Area students.

Here's how this organization is listening and learning from the people they serve:

Describe a recent change in your organization that resulted from feedback.
We have made several changed based on feedback we received - removing gender from backpack tags - removing age limitations from toy choices (from the feedback of disabled persons) - removing gender restrictions from toy choices - adding transgender as a choice for the Holiday wishcards
