Boys & Girls Harbor, Texas, founded in 1947, works to provide healthy, comprehensive care for children and families in crisis. For children who are experiencing family hardship, neglect, abandonment or abuse, the Harbor provides a family environment in a home setting. Through it programs, the Harbor strives to help children learn to overcome self-destructive patterns, break cycles of abuse, develop social skills, learn responsibility, and work towards becoming healthy, happy, and productive members of society. Over the last 10 years the Harbor has been home to 85 sibling groups involving 238 children. Each year the Harbor provides residential care for over 100 children. Since its inception, over 2,000 children have called the Harbor their home.
